Fatal Crash on Lagos Third Mainland Bridge Claims One Life, Injures Four

A fatal collision involving a J5 Ford bus (FKJ 724 YC) and a Mercedes truck (FKJ 746 YC) at Ilubirin, inward Sura, along Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge, has claimed one life and left four others injured. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday.

According to Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, rescue operatives promptly arrived at the scene, extricating five victims from the wreckage. Unfortunately, one person succumbed to injuries, while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

LASTMA General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, extended condolences to the bereaved family and urged drivers, especially operators of heavy-duty vehicles, to avoid speeding and ensure their vehicles are in good condition, particularly the braking systems.

LASTMA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring road safety and pledged continued collaboration with relevant agencies to prevent avoidable accidents on Lagos roads.
