Sudanese paramilitaries have launched deadly attacks on the city of El-Fasher, North Darfur, killing at least 38 people, according to local activists. The local resistance committee reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck the city centre with four high-explosive missiles on Sunday.
The assault came after a drone attack on El-Fasher’s Saudi Hospital on Friday, killing nine people and injuring 20 others. The attack forced medical personnel to suspend operations, drawing condemnation from World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who labelled attacks on healthcare facilities in Sudan as “deplorable.”

The RSF and Sudan’s army have been locked in a power struggle since April 2023, creating one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Tens of thousands have been killed, while over 11 million people have been displaced.
Currently, the RSF controls most of Darfur and has expanded into South Kordofan and central Sudan, while the Sudanese army maintains control over the north and east of the country.
