President Bola Tinubu has rescheduled the presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the National Assembly from Tuesday to Wednesday, December 18. The announcement was made on Monday by Alkali Umar, Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resource and Staff Development of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

The federal government had proposed a total expenditure of N47.9 trillion for the 2025 budget on November 14. President Tinubu later submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) for 2025-2027 to both chambers of the National Assembly on November 19.

The MTEF/FSP outlines the government’s spending framework over three years and serves as the basis for the national budget. The Senate approved the document on December 3, paving the way for the budget’s formal presentation.

During a plenary on December 12, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that the president would present the budget on December 17. However, the date has now been pushed to December 18, according to the latest update from the NASC.
