The Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals complex has received high praise from the Japanese business community for showcasing Nigeria’s technological advancements on the global stage.
According to Mr. Takashi Oku, Managing Director of the Japan External Trade Organisation, Nigeria boasts a rapidly growing population, impressive technological advancements, and a well-developed refinery sector.
“Nigeria has a growing population, rapidly, but not only the population but also you have a good technology and good refinery in here.”
Mr. Ugochukwu Aniebonam, Assistant Manager at Itochu Nigeria Limited, expressed enthusiasm about potential collaborations between Dangote and Itochu, particularly in the production and distribution of polypropylene and petroleum products.

“There’s much that Dangote and Intuit can do together. Part of those products that we are looking at, like he mentioned, the polypropylene, and then also we might could be looking at some petroleum product exports as well.”
The Japanese delegation, led by Japan’s Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo, toured the facilities housing both the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals and Dangote Fertilisers, commending the state-of-the-art technology on display.
