Still with the tragic stampede incidents across the country,
The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has assured families who lost loved ones in recent stampede tragedies across the country that the Federal Government will provide necessary support.
On Wednesday, 18 December, a stampede at a funfair in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, claimed the lives of over 35 people, the majority of whom were children.

Further tragedies occurred on Saturday, when two separate stampedes broke out during the distribution of rice and other relief items. One incident in the Ojika community of Anambra State left more than 20 dead, while another in the Maitama area of Abuja claimed 10 lives.
Describing the events as a “national tragedy,” Vice President Shettima extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also reassured the public that measures have been put in place to deliver relief and prevent such occurrences in the future.
