The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the 2023 elections, Adewole Adebayo, on Sunday, criticised the 2025 budget proposals presented by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja, he said there are a number of contradictions in the budget. He accused the government of insincerity as, according to him, the exchange rates fixed in the budget is unrealistic.

Also weighing in on the budget, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, said the borrowing strategy to meet the deficit in the budget is similar to the approach of previous administrations, increasing public debt and exacerbating the attendant risks related to interest payments and foreign exchange (FX) exposure.
The former Vice President also questioned the amount earmarked for debt servicing saying it surpassed allocations to key sectors like defence, infrastructure, education and health.
