The Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP, has announced that it has submitted the names of public servants accused of violating the 2007 Public Procurement Act to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, for appropriate action.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, the Director-General of the BPP, Adebowale Adedokun, pledged to reform the agency and enforce strict compliance with procurement laws. While emphasizing that it will no longer be business as usual, he also said that this is the first instance in the bureau’s history where violators have been referred to the CCB.

Mr. Adedokun also expressed concern over the persistent issue of inflated contract costs in Nigeria. He pointed to the heads of Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies who, he said, delay procurement processes until the end of the fiscal year as a major factor driving inefficiency and waste.
