Four Suspected Terrorists Remanded Over Links to Bandit Leader Bello Turji

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the detention of four individuals suspected of aiding Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, at Kuje Correctional Centre.

The accused, Musa Kamarawa, Abubakar Hashimu, aka ‘Doctor’, Samuel Chinedu, and Lucky Chukwuma, face an 11-count terrorism charge. Prosecutors allege they supplied Turji’s group with materials, including military and police uniforms, illicit drugs, food, and building supplies for camps in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna states.

In 2021, the defendants allegedly facilitated the purchase of a military gun truck from Libya for ₦28.5 million, and handed it to another bandit leader, Kachalla Halilu.

Presiding Judge Emeka Nwite adjourned proceedings, noting that four other suspects, including Turji himself, remain at large.
