Troops of the 1 Brigade, under Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, have eliminated a notorious terrorist leader, Sani Russu, in Zamfara State, according to military authorities.
In a statement issued on Monday in Gusau, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, confirmed that the operation resulted in the recovery of significant weaponry, including one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, three magazines, and three motorcycles.

The statement also detailed a follow-up operation conducted on January 2, where the Air Component carried out targeted airstrikes on Maikaman Rini, a key location within Sububu Forest. The strikes were aimed at the camp of Ibrahim Chumo, another high-profile terrorist leader, in support of ground forces engaged in Operation Hadarin Daji.
