South Korea’s anti-corruption investigators secured a fresh arrest warrant on Tuesday for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, following his failed martial law decree that plunged the nation into political chaos.
The former prosecutor has evaded questioning three times since his controversial December 3 declaration, which marked South Korea’s worst political crisis in decades. President Yoon remains confined to his residence, heavily guarded by hundreds of security personnel blocking his detention.

The Corruption Investigation Office has declined to disclose the duration of the new warrant, issued after the initial seven-day order expired.
Should investigators succeed in apprehending Yoon, he would be the first sitting South Korean president to face arrest. However, authorities would have just 48 hours to secure another warrant to extend his detention or release him. The case has further deepened the political uncertainty engulfing the nation.
