Telecommunication Spending Hits Record N5.3 Trillion in 2023

Telecommunication spending in Nigeria surged to an unprecedented N5.3 trillion in 2023, driven by a significant rise in data consumption, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The figure, detailed in the NCC’s 2023 Subscriber and Network Performance Report released on Monday, represents a 37% increase from the N3.8 trillion recorded in 2022.

Data usage by subscribers soared to over 713,000 terabytes by December 2023, up from just over 518,000 terabytes in December 2022.
