President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability efforts, speaking on the second day of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Addressing a global audience in the United Arab Emirates, Tinubu highlighted the need for collective action in addressing climate change and building a sustainable future for all nations.
In his speech on “From Climate Imperatives to Economic Prosperity: Bridging Africa with the Global Energy Future,” the president emphasised that no single country can achieve sustainability in isolation. He called for mutual support, knowledge sharing, and greater international cooperation to tackle global challenges, including climate change and environmental degradation.

President Tinubu also outlined Nigeria’s concrete steps towards reducing carbon emissions, including developing infrastructure for Compressed Natural Gas and electric vehicles. He noted that the country is harnessing its solid minerals to aid the green energy transition and is introducing climate-smart agricultural practices to ensure food security while reducing environmental harm.
The president also discussed Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to address key environmental issues such as deforestation, desertification, and pollution.
