The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has issued a stern warning against any attempts to establish a Sharia Court within the state, emphasising that such actions lack legal foundation.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Governor Abiodun underscored that the state government only recognises courts constituted under the legal framework of the Nigerian Constitution. He clarified that a Sharia Court is not included in the judicial structure operating within Ogun State.

The governor further noted that only courts established by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or state laws are legally empowered to adjudicate disputes in Ogun State. These include Magistrates’ Courts, the High Court, Customary Courts, the Customary Court of Appeal, the Federal High Court, the National Industrial Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.
