Two people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a two-storey building in the Ikota area of Lekki, Ajah, Lagos State, on Tuesday. Five workers were injured, with some others still trapped under the rubble. Emergency services, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), have been working to rescue those trapped.
Ibrahim Farinloye, a spokesperson for NEMA, confirmed the injuries have been treated at local hospitals and the bodies of the deceased have been recovered. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, although the cause of the collapse is yet to be determined.

LASEMA reported one fatality and four adults injured, differing slightly from NEMA’s report. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s director-general, stated that heavy-duty equipment had been deployed to assist in the rescue efforts.
The agencies have assured that investigations will follow to determine the cause of the tragic incident, with further updates to be provided as the situation develops.
