The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the discovery of additional illegal refineries and pipelines across the Niger Delta. The company’s Command and Control Centre, alongside key stakeholders like Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Ltd, Maton Engineering Nigeria Ltd, Shell Petroleum Development Company, Oando PLC, and government security agencies, played a role in uncovering these operations.
This latest revelation follows last week’s report, where NNPCL identified 55 illegal refineries and 29 illicit pipeline connections. Among the significant incidents, the company highlighted a major breach on the Oando to NLNG Boni gas pipeline in Rivers State, which disrupted operations and impacted gas supply to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) facility.

Further investigations exposed several instances of crude oil pipeline vandalism, particularly in Bayelsa State’s Ikenzi and Oruma areas, where illegal connections to condensate pipelines were also discovered. These breaches led to significant disruptions in the region’s oil and gas operations.
NNPCL confirmed that all illegal connections have been removed and that necessary repairs have been completed. The company has reiterated its commitment to tackling the growing issue of pipeline vandalism and oil theft across the region.
