The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned a group of foreign nationals, including Chinese and Filipino suspects, before four justices of the Federal High Court in Lagos on charges related to cybercrimes, cyber-terrorism, identity theft, and possession of fraudulent documents.
The defendants, who appeared in court following their arrest in December 2024, pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court ordered their remand in correctional facilities pending hearings on their bail applications.

Prosecutors allege that the accused secretly recruited and employed Nigerian youths to carry out identity theft and other computer-related fraud schemes. The cases have been adjourned to various dates in February and March, with the earliest trial set to begin on 7 February 2025.
The suspects were apprehended on 10 December 2024 at a location on Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, following an EFCC operation based on credible intelligence.
