The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr Emomotimi Agama, has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to strengthening investor confidence through collaboration with international regulatory bodies.
Speaking at SEC’s headquarters in Abuja during a meeting with a delegation from the Algorand Foundation, a blockchain organisation, Mr Agama emphasised the importance of aligning the commission’s regulatory framework with global standards. He noted that such partnerships would enhance cross-border cooperation and ensure the adaptability of Nigeria’s financial regulations.
Mr Agama also highlighted the introduction of key initiatives, including the Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme and the Regulatory Incubation Programme. These initiatives, he explained, provide a controlled environment for firms operating in the digital asset space to test new models while maintaining stringent consumer protection measures.
The SEC Chief reiterated the commission’s determination to foster a resilient and transparent regulatory landscape that supports technological advancement while safeguarding investor interests.
