A five-man panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, has dismissed the appeal filed by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, which challenged the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly under Martin Amaewhule. The court ruled against the governor’s appeal after his counsel, Yusuf Ali, withdrew the suit.
In its decision, the court also awarded a cost of two million naira against Governor Fubara. The amount is to be paid to the Rivers State House of Assembly, the first respondent, and Martin Amaewhule, the second respondent in the case.

The appeal was dismissed due to the withdrawal of the case by Fubara’s legal team, leaving the leadership of the state’s House of Assembly under Amaewhule intact.
