US committed to ‘buying and owning’ Gaza says Trump
President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has once again suggested that the United States should take control of Gaza, describing the war-torn enclave as a “big real estate site” and proposing to “buy and own” the area. Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump emphasised his commitment to overseeing the region’s future, stating that other Middle Eastern countries could assist in its reconstruction.

Trump added that, should the US move forward with this plan, it could involve other nations in rebuilding parts of Gaza. However, his remarks have sparked immediate backlash, especially from Palestinian representatives and much of the international community.

In response, Hamas, the governing group in Gaza, rejected Trump’s proposal as “absurd.” Izzat al-Risheq, a senior Hamas official, said the idea of purchasing Gaza was unacceptable, calling the region “an integral part of our occupied Palestinian land.”

Trump also claimed that many displaced Palestinians would not wish to return to Gaza, suggesting that they might prefer safer alternatives. However, his comments have only intensified the controversy surrounding his ongoing stance on the region’s future.
