The Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has announced that the Federal Government is taking steps to eliminate the growing ‘Japa’ syndrome, where Nigerians leave the country in search of better opportunities. Speaking at the launch of a new initiative, Musawa highlighted the government’s efforts to create an enabling environment that encourages citizens to stay and thrive in Nigeria.
Musawa explained that the initiative aims to promote tourism, showcasing Nigeria’s vibrant culture and rich heritage to the world. The project, she added, is part of a broader strategy to improve the country’s image and attract more tourists, while also encouraging Nigerians to appreciate the opportunities available at home.

The Minister revealed that her ministry is collaborating with key agencies such as the Ministries of Aviation and Interior, as well as security agencies, to ensure returning Nigerians experience a smooth transition back into the country. The initiative also promises to offer them a memorable and enriching tourism experience.
By fostering such an environment, Musawa believes the Federal Government can encourage Nigerians to return home, invest in local industries, and contribute to the nation’s cultural and economic growth, ultimately reducing the allure of leaving the country.
