Two suspects linked to the murder of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, have escaped from police custody. The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, received a report that two of the suspected killers fled while assisting operatives in an investigation. The suspects had been taken out to help locate a receiver of stolen vehicles linked to the criminal gang.

In response, the Commissioner of Police has deployed “human, operational, and intelligence assets” to track down the fugitives. He has also ordered immediate disciplinary action against officers responsible for the security lapse.
Justice Azuka was abducted by gunmen on 14 December 2024. His decomposing body was discovered by a joint security team about two weeks ago at the Second Niger Bridge in Onitsha, Anambra State.
