The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, has called on state and local governments to play a greater role in improving Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Speaking at an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, Pate stressed that healthcare is a shared responsibility across all levels of government.

He commended Lagos State for its notable progress in malaria control, urging other states to adopt similar strategies.
The minister also revealed that the federal government is boosting healthcare funding to address gaps left by the withdrawal of international support, including from USAID.
