The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) says 956 Nigerians have been repatriated from Libyan detention centres in the first quarter of 2025.
The operation, conducted in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCRMI), involved six evacuation flights between January and March.

The returnees included 683 women, 132 men, 87 children, and 54 infants. Authorities warn that Libya remains unsafe, urging Nigerians to avoid irregular migration routes.
NiDCOM has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens abroad while calling for greater public awareness to curb illegal migration.
