Kenyan opposition MP Charles Ong’ondo Were has been shot dead in what police describe as a targeted killing.
Were was gunned down on Wednesday evening while his vehicle was stopped at a traffic light in Nairobi. Witnesses said a motorcycle passenger opened fire on his car before fleeing the scene.

The late legislator, who represented Kasipul under the Orange Democratic Movement, had reportedly complained about threats to his life before the attack.
President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have both condemned the killing and called for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
