The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, says companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange declared N1.1 trillion in dividends for 2024, with N1 trillion already paid to shareholders.
SEC Director-General, Mr. Emomotimi Agama, in a Sunday statement, said the figure reflects growing investor confidence and market resilience.
Between January and December 2024, the Commission approved N3.68 trillion in new capital issues—N59.82 billion in fixed income and N3.62 trillion in equities—indicating strong demand in the equity market.

According to him, in the first four months of 2025 alone, fresh approvals worth N446.38 billion were recorded, including N265.90 billion in debt instruments and N180.48 billion in equities.
Mr. Agama also confirmed 11 mergers and acquisitions valued at N320.36 billion in 2024, while collective investment schemes posted a combined net asset value of N3.84 trillion by year-end.
