Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Lawyers Decry Legal Imbalance as Charges Filed

The legal team representing Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has raised concerns over what it calls selective justice, after federal authorities filed charges against the lawmaker despite a dozen petitions she reportedly lodged earlier in the year.

In a statement released by her counsel, Uju Nwoduwu, the team revealed that between March and May 2025, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan submitted twelve petitions addressing issues ranging from cyberstalking and defamation to threats against her life.

The lawyers questioned why none of those petitions have led to action, while separate allegations have resulted in criminal charges against their client. Some of the petitions, they said, involve serious claims against individuals in public office.

Currently abroad on personal matters, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has acknowledged court correspondence and expressed willingness to appear once an arraignment date is confirmed.

Her team reiterated a call for impartiality and urged authorities to ensure justice is pursued without bias or delay.
