A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has fixed July 17 for ruling on a motion by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello seeking permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.
At the resumed hearing, Mr Bello’s legal team, led by Joseph Daudu SAN, requested the release of his international passport, citing urgent health concerns. They submitted additional affidavits and documents, including previous court rulings granting him bail.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission opposed the request, arguing it could delay proceedings and that Mr Bello’s sureties were not formally notified.
The prosecution also criticised the filing of similar applications in both the FCT and Federal High Courts, describing it as a potential conflict.
Mr Daudu dismissed the objections, insisting the defence acted within the law and that the sureties were already informed.
