A new documentary titled ‘Double Minority’, which sheds light on the experiences of nine Nigerian women who contested elective office in the 2023 general elections, is set for its Abuja premiere on Monday 14th July,
Produced by Daria Media, the film chronicles the courage and challenges of female candidates navigating a political terrain dominated by men and marked by cultural bias, inadequate funding, and political violence.

Among those featured are Senators Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Ireti Kingibe, along with other prominent women leaders across various parties.
With women holding just 3.6% of elected positions—far below Nigeria’s 35% gender policy target—the film argues that systemic exclusion of women is detrimental to national development.
