United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed has paid warm tribute to former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in a London hospital on Sunday.
Ms. Mohammed, who served as Environment Minister during President Buhari’s first term, praised his leadership and personal influence, recalling how he encouraged her to take up a global role.

Speaking on a televised interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, she described him as a reluctant politician who nonetheless gave himself fully to public service.
Ms. Mohammed, who now chairs the UN Sustainable Development Group, said Buhari’s legacy would endure in both national and international spheres.
