The family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians and international dignitaries for the widespread sympathy and solidarity following his death in London at the age of 82.
Speaking on the family’s behalf, his nephew Mamman Daura, through a statement issued by Garba Shehu, said the expressions of support—from President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and their spouses—have brought comfort in a time of profound grief.

He praised Tinubu for declaring a national holiday and renaming the University of Maiduguri in Buhari’s honour, calling the gestures thoughtful and unifying.
The family also acknowledged condolence messages from global figures including King Charles III, the UN Secretary-General, and African leaders.
Traditional rulers, religious leaders, business magnates, and citizens across the country were also commended for their presence in Daura.
Mr. Daura said the support has given the family strength to face their loss with courage and gratitude.
