Super Falcons Eye WAFCON Final as South Africa Clash Looms

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are bracing for a high-stakes Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semifinal against rivals South Africa on Tuesday, with head coach Justin Madugu confident his side can break Banyana Banyana’s seven-year unbeaten run in regulation time.

Speaking in Casablanca ahead of the match, Madugu—part of the 2018 title-winning technical crew—dismissed any notion of psychological advantage from last year’s Olympic qualifiers. Instead, he praised South Africa’s consistency while warning that history alone won’t secure victory.

Nigeria head into the clash unbeaten at Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium, where they’ve played all four previous matches without conceding.

Coach Madugu has opted for emerging talents such as Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo over established names, insisting team cohesion remains the Falcons’ strongest asset.

With 11 titles to their name, Nigeria aims to reclaim continental dominance. Kick-off is at 6pm Nigerian time.
