The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service says it responded to 1,072 emergency incidents and rescued 252 persons between January and June 2025, with 62 fatalities recorded during the period. The agency also responded to 922 fire outbreaks, 73 rescue operations and 65 salvage-related emergencies.
In a statement issued on Monday, senior public affairs officer Maria Fadairo said the service attended to 10 building collapse incidents, eight of which were partial, alongside two minor explosions. She added that 315 false emergency calls were received, posing a significant challenge to emergency response operations.

Director of the Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, stated that property valued at N64.32 billion was saved due to swift intervention, while property losses amounted to about N10.72 billion. She noted that these figures highlight the agency’s critical role in safeguarding lives and assets across the state.
Adeseye said the agency continues to engage stakeholders to reduce fire outbreaks and will deepen collaboration at the forthcoming International Fire Safety Conference 2.0, where experts will discuss improved strategies for emergency preparedness.
