Ahead of Thursday’s National Executive Committee meeting, senior figures within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, convened in Abuja on Wednesday for a strategic caucus session hosted by Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed.
The closed-door gathering at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge brought together five serving governors—Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Ahmadu Fintiri from Adamawa, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and the host governor—as well as top national party officials.

Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several Board of Trustees members were also in attendance.
The meeting is understood to be part of efforts to build internal consensus ahead of the NEC’s expected ratification of key National Working Committee decisions, including preparations for the next elective convention and broader strategy for the 2027 elections.
