Slovenian top-tier club NK Celje [Tsel-yeh] have completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Papa Daniel from NPFL side Niger Tornadoes on a contract running until June 2028.

The 23-year-old, a product of Fackson Nextpro Football Academy, caught attention with his consistent performances last season—scoring four goals and providing three assists in 21 league matches from midfield.

Daniel, who previously had a brief spell in Turkey with Adanaspor, also earned his first senior Nigeria cap in May during a Unity Cup win over Ghana.

His move to Europe rules him out of the CHAN tournament, reserved for Africa-based players, where he had been a mainstay in the Super Eagles B team.

At Celje, the two-time Slovenian champions, Daniel becomes the seventh Nigerian to play for the club, joining a side eager to return to the top of the domestic league.
