Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has suspended 25 commissioners and 62 senior government officials, including permanent secretaries, for failing to attend a state function. The disciplinary action was announced on Monday in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.
The officials were handed a one-month working suspension without salary. The Governor described their absence at the event, which he personally attended, as unacceptable and a breach of official duty.

Governor Nwifuru also directed that suspended commissioners must hand over to their respective permanent secretaries, while no affected official is to sign any government document during the suspension period.
The suspension takes immediate effect and underscores what the Governor’s office described as the administration’s zero tolerance for negligence of duty and insubordination.
