At least 60,034 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the war began in October 2023, according to the enclave’s Ministry of Health. The latest deaths include 62 people, among them 19 seeking aid, following renewed Israeli attacks early Tuesday.
The Israeli military deployed tanks, drones and booby-trapped robots in what residents described as one of the bloodiest nights in weeks. There is speculation that the attacks could precede a fresh Israeli ground manoeuvre, although this has not been confirmed by the Israeli authorities.

Meanwhile, a new report by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warns that Gaza is facing a worst-case famine scenario. It states that famine thresholds for food consumption have now been reached in most areas, with acute malnutrition levels met in Gaza City. Food access has severely deteriorated, with one in three residents going days without eating.
The IPC says over 20,000 children were treated for acute malnutrition between April and mid-July, including more than 3,000 classified as severely malnourished. Its May analysis projected that by September, more than 500,000 people in Gaza could face extreme food shortages unless military operations end and humanitarian access is restored.
