Police Reunite 35 Kidnap Victims with Families in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has reunited 35 victims of kidnapping—comprising 16 women and 19 children—with their families after weeks in protective custody. The victims were rescued from various locations across Kagara, Tegina, and Agwara following intelligence-led operations that began on July 3, 2025.

Speaking at a handover ceremony at the command headquarters in Minna, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu, representing CP Adamu Elleman, explained that the victims had received counselling and support from both the police and the state government. The groups were intercepted in separate rescue operations, including one involving a suspect, Yusuf Abdullahi, who is under investigation.

The Chairman of Rafi Local Government, Ayuba Katako, who formally received the victims, expressed gratitude to the police, other security agencies, and the state government for their efforts. He assured that the victims would be supported in rebuilding their lives, with educational and vocational opportunities made available.
