The Federal Government has appealed for calm following viral footage showing some Ghanaians protesting and demanding the expulsion of Nigerians, alleging that their behaviour conflicts with Ghanaian norms. The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) condemned the “blanket” generalisation of Nigerians as criminals.
NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said most Nigerians living abroad are law-abiding and good ambassadors. She urged Ghanaians to identify and sanction offenders individually rather than tarring all Nigerians with the same brush. She also dismissed claims of attacks on Nigerian businesses in Ghana, urging restraint and vigilance.
