US Envoys Head to Gaza as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, are expected in Gaza today, amid growing concern over severe food shortages and worsening humanitarian conditions.

The White House says the pair will report directly to the President following the visit, to finalise a relief plan for aid distribution in the region.

This will be Mr. Witkoff’s second visit to Gaza since US President Trump took office in January 2025—his first making him the first US official to enter the enclave in over a decade.

The trip comes days after Mr. Witkoff met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following Washington’s withdrawal from Gaza ceasefire talks, accusing Hamas of bad faith negotiations.
