Academic activities at Lagos State University have been paralysed following the commencement of an indefinite strike by staff unions. The action, which began on Thursday, affects the university’s main campus in Ojo, as well as LASUCOM in Ikeja and the Epe campus.
The strike was announced in a letter dated 31 July and signed by leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). The unions, under the Joint Action Committee, cited unresolved issues with university management.

All staff have been directed to withdraw their services and vacate their duty posts with immediate effect. The unions say the industrial action will remain in place until their demands are fully met by the appropriate authorities.
The strike comes just days before the scheduled start of second-semester examinations for the 2024/2025 academic session, leaving thousands of students uncertain about their academic future.
