Six Kidnapped Law Students Rescued in Benue

Police Reunite 35 Kidnap Victims with Families in Niger State

Police in Benue State have rescued six law students who were kidnapped while travelling to the Nigerian Law School in Yola, Adamawa State. The students were abducted on 28 July along the boundary between Benue and Taraba states.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Udeme Edet, the students had departed from Anambra State en route to the Yola campus when they ran into the kidnappers. He confirmed that the victims were safely released and reunited with their families on Friday morning.

The Nigerian Bar Association President, Afam Osigwe, had earlier disclosed the abduction during a regional security summit in Makurdi on 28 July, raising concerns over the rising insecurity in the region.

This rescue follows recent efforts by security operatives in the state, including the rescue of 13 abducted passengers last week, as authorities continue to tackle criminal activity along the Benue-Taraba axis.
