The Independent National Electoral Commission says online voter pre-registration for the 2027 general elections will begin nationwide on 18 August 2025. INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the National Orientation Agency to the commission’s headquarters.
Professor Yakubu also disclosed that in-person registration will commence a week later, on 25 August, as part of broader preparations for the Anambra governorship election on 8 November and the 2027 polls. He emphasised the importance of early and inclusive registration, especially for women, young people, and persons with disabilities.
