The Court of Appeal in Lagos has reinstated a preservation order on 14 properties and N400 million said to be linked to former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.
A three-member panel delivered the ruling following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), effectively restoring an earlier order granted by a Federal High Court.

The assets—located in Lagos, Abuja, and the United Arab Emirates—are now shielded from disposal or interference while legal proceedings continue.
The original interim order, granted in February 2024, was later vacated after Mr Bello argued the properties were lawfully acquired prior to his tenure and that constitutional immunity protected him.
Wednesday’s ruling revives the freeze, pending a full determination of the appeal.
The EFCC had earlier been directed to publish notices inviting any interested parties to contest a final forfeiture.
