The National Youth Service Corps has dismissed claims that it withdrew the discharge certificate of Rita Uguamaye over her criticism of President Bola Tinubu and the federal government.
Uguamaye had gone viral after complaining about delays in paying the recently approved ₦77,000 allowance for corps members, accusing authorities of causing hardship.

The NYSC said she is among 131 members whose certificates were withheld for disciplinary reasons, specifically for missing April’s biometric clearance. Her service year has been extended by two months in line with NYSC bye-laws.
Officials stressed that such extensions are standard procedure and not unique to her case.
The NYSC urged the public to avoid politicising the matter, insisting it remains committed to fair treatment of all corps members and to upholding its constitutional mandate.
