Chelsea Held in Opener as Maresca Explains Tosin Absence

Chelsea’s Premier League campaign began with frustration after a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Supporters were left surprised by the absence of defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who had been expected to replace the injured Levi Colwill. Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed before kick-off that Tosin was carrying a minor fitness issue but should be available for next Friday’s London derby against West Ham.

Teenager Josh Acheampong stepped into the starting XI, partnering Trevoh Chalobah at the back. Maresca praised the youngster’s composure, saying the club believes he can develop quickly at the highest level. Acheampong produced a disciplined display, neutralising Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

With Chelsea yet to sign cover for Colwill, Coach Maresca will be anxious for Tosin’s swift recovery as the Blues look to build momentum in the weeks ahead.
