The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has placed 6,458 candidates under investigation for alleged technology-driven malpractice during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
A 23-member special committee was inaugurated in Abuja to probe the cases and submit findings within three weeks. JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said those found guilty would face sanctions, stressing that examination malpractice posed a grave threat to the integrity of Nigeria’s education system.

The committee will also examine 141 additional cases of irregularities, ranging from image manipulation and false albinism claims to attempts at breaching computer test networks. Its mandate includes identifying methods used, reviewing JAMB’s policies, and recommending stronger safeguards.
Committee chair Mr. Jake Epele pledged fairness and transparency, describing the assignment as vital to restoring public confidence and protecting merit in Nigeria’s admissions process.
