President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a 40,000 cubic metre Liquefied Petroleum Gas vessel in Ulsan, South Korea, describing it as a major step in boosting energy security and affordability.
The vessel, MT Iyaloja – Lagos, is owned by WAGL Energy Limited, a joint venture between NNPC Limited and Sahara Group. It is a dual-fuel, fully refrigerated LPG carrier, bringing the company’s total fleet capacity to 162,000 cubic metres.

Represented by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), President Tinubu said Nigeria was committed to delivering clean and sustainable energy across Africa and beyond.
NNPC’s Group Chief Executive, Bashir Ojulari, called the vessel a significant addition to Nigeria’s gas development efforts, stressing its importance for affordability and economic growth.
The ship, named after the President’s late mother, was officially launched by his daughter, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria.
