Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has admitted that his departure from Mavin Records in 2018 was premature.
The artist, who rose to fame under the Don Jazzy-led label and won the Headies Rookie of the Year in 2014 before securing the Next Rated award a year later, left to establish his own imprint, Banks Music.

Speaking in a recent interview, Banks explained that although his contract with Mavin had expired two years before he left, he underestimated the challenges of running an independent career. He stressed that his exit was not caused by any disagreement with the label but rather by youthful determination to chart a new path.
The singer acknowledged that managing his business affairs quickly showed him how unprepared he was at the time, describing the move as an early but necessary learning curve.
