Authorities in Benin Republic say the death toll from a bus accident has risen to 37 after rescuers recovered 10 more bodies from the Oueme River. The crash happened overnight from Saturday to Sunday when the bus plunged off a bridge.
The head of the civil protection authority, Abdel Aziz Bio Djibril, said six passengers remain missing, while nine survivors are being treated in hospital. Search operations are continuing.

The STM company bus had departed from Lomé, the capital of neighbouring Togo, carrying 52 passengers. It was travelling on the Interstate 2 highway, which links Cotonou in the south to Malanville on the Niger border.
Officials say the passengers included Nigeriens, Beninese and other foreign nationals. Many Nigeriens had been travelling north despite a border dispute between Niger and Benin that has disrupted cross-border movement.
