The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of officers and soldiers nationwide.
Speaking at the end of a three-day operational tour of the 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Army Chief said the well-being of troops and their families remains central to his leadership. He explained that the visit enabled him to assess operational readiness, interact with soldiers, and engage stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

Lieutenant General Oluyede emphasised that welfare is vital to sustaining morale and effectiveness, noting that challenges identified during the visit would be addressed within available resources.
During the tour, he commissioned several projects, including new administrative buildings, renovated quarters, and facilities at the Elele Barracks. He stressed that the Nigerian Army will continue to strengthen its capacity while consolidating on recent operational gains.
